Kassari Exposition Building

The limestone building, a former manor’s lodge house, displays a permanent exhibit “Life of the island. Fire, earth, air, water.” introducing life on Hiiumaa through ancient elements and their well-known properties. These elements are FIRE, EARTH, WATER, and AIR.

This approach clearly shows the interconnection of all phenomena, pursuits, developments and events of life. Past and present are not placed along a timeline, but the past is rather viewed as the repeating of everyday processes, experiences, and evolution. The focus is placed on advantages and dangers influencing life on the island at different time periods.

The museum gift shop offers a wide variety of handicrafts and souvenirs from Hiiumaa.
